Let’s try this blogging thing…
So I’m not a high-tech guy. But I figured out enough about this “Internets” thing to follow the Ron Paul presidential campaign, and in the process discovered that all kinds of folks are writing blogs about Congressman Paul, his philosophies, and his record in public service.
I didn’t start out as a huge Paul fan overnight. But over a few months of studying his speeches and writings, and further corroboration with experience and primary research, I began to think that he is absolutely someone worth discussing. As I learned more, I now lean towards outright and enthusiastic support.
As I was reading and gradually reaching this conclusion, I started leaving my own comments on others’ blogs. Some bloggers are “seekers”, like me, others don’t care so much about thinking and discourse, and just like to throw sound bites back and forth. In both cases, though, I’d try to participate in the discussion.
But something was missing. Am I limited to just being a nomadic blog troll? Have I become one of these “Ronbot spammers” people are talking about? I am a real person… what’s missing? It took me a while, but a person named criminyjicket dropped a hint in a response to one of my drive-by comments that got me thinking. Why don’t I write my comments on my OWN blog? It’s not fair for me to merely critique the work of others, without subjecting my own research and analysis to similar scrutiny.
So here goes. It took me all of five minutes to sign up at WordPress. This is even cooler than The Google.
