Ok, I give up. There’s just too much involved being a full-time Congressional candidate to maintain more than one blog with any degree of regularity. But the good stuff, and an active dialog, continues at blog.lawsonforcongress.com. Please visit, and support our campaign to restore a Constitutional federal government!

And I’m proud to support…

You’ll never believe the surprise ending:

The truth will set you free.

So, I’ve decided to stop negative campaigning. I will never again talk about my opponent like THIS. I will never make a negative ad like THIS. I will never accuse my opponent of doing THIS. Did you get all that? So says Mike Huckabee:

Mike Huckabee is holding a press conference right now in which he was supposed to unveil a new negative ad against arch rival Mitt Romney.

But Mr. Huckabee came to the press conference and announced he’d had a change of heart and would not be broadcasting the ad after all. But wait! It gets better.

He then broadcast it for a room crammed with reporters, photographers and television cameras.

The assembled media found the display hilarious and at several points laughed out loud.

Telling you what’s in the ad, of course, plays into Mr. Huckabee’s strategy of getting his message out — Mr. Romney is bad — while being able to say his hands are clean.

Asked if he wasn’t being hypocritical by showing the ad to a roomful of cameras that are likely to record it and show it — for free — around the country, Mr. Huckabee said he was showing it to reporters only because reporters were so cynical that if he didn’t show it, they would not believe that he really had made such an ad.

If this wasn’t so sad, it would be kind of funny.

In the spirit of the season, these video clips seemed especially appropriate. First, Mitt Romney. Everyone can learn a lot spending time in a hospital, and perhaps Mr. Romney would gain a broader perspective on sickness and suffering should he choose to volunteer in a cancer ward or emergency room:

Next, Mike Huckabee. Mr. Huckabee has some thought-provoking suggestions for what it means to “exit” a presidential campaign. He also might benefit from volunteering in a hospital, although a psychiatric facility seems more appropriate:

Running for Congress

Well, after years of studying the issues and increasing concern that we’re not actually doing anything about them, I’m finally going to try and do something about them. It’s one thing to be a social commentator, it’s another to be a force for social change.

I’ve met a bunch of great folks over the past five months I’ve been blogging, and even more over seven months of involvement in grassroots political organizing. It’s empowering to know that I’m not alone in my concern for the country. From discussions within our Meetup to local GOP organizations, I’m increasingly optimistic that we can start putting labels aside and engage in meaningful discussions as concerned Americans.

I’ve moved most of my issue and campaign-related posts to my campaign blog, and will be spending most of my time over there. Please help us restore a Constitutional federal government. Visit lawsonforcongress.com to learn more, and get involved!

RALEIGH, N.C. – Nearly one hundred young professionals came out to the Big Easy in downtown Raleigh on Thursday evening for the Wake County Young Republican’s Christmas Party and Straw Poll. The political group, which targets young professionals in Wake County, has tripled membership in the last two years by hosting fun and educational events.”Very few of our members had taken part in a straw poll before and we thought it would be interesting to see who they were likely to support,” said Dave Reynolds, Chairman of the Wake County Young Republicans, “Typically, we’ll get Rudy, Mitt and Huckabee supporters at our events. Thursday night, Ron Paul supporters wanted to make a statement, and they did.” The event had a rush of Ron Paul supporters in attendance, as the group took a very strong interest in the Young Republican Straw Poll that was held during the party. The poll covered Republican candidates for both Presidential and NC Gubernatorial races.

Results of the Wake County Young Republican Straw Poll were as follows:

Republican Presidential Candidates:
Ron Paul: 53%
Rudy Giuliani: 21%
Mike Huckabee: 13%
Mitt Romney: 11%

Republican NC Gubernatorial Candidates:
Judge Bob Orr: 48%
Fred Smith: 23%
Undecided: 21%
Bill Graham: 5%

The Wake County Young Republicans will hold club elections and meet next month on Monday, January 14 at Moonlight Pizza in Downtown Raleigh.
